| | Reviews | ‘Company pulls off another triumph’ Bridgnorth Journal by Rachael Lowe BAOS Musical Theatre Company performance of High Society went down a treat with audiences this week as it followed the lines of a classic amateur performance. High Society is about a privileged family who have a few hidden truths which somewhat dampen their high class status. Tracy Samantha Lord, played by Emma Parker, is about to get married for the second time to George Kitteredge, played by Edmund Hobday. Her first marriage was to Dexter Haven, played by Ron York, who actually turned out to be her ‘True Love’. The play got better throughout, with act two bringing cheer, colour and enthusiasm. The vocals of Emma Parker (Tracy Lord) made the songs a treat, and the slapstick love chase between Uncle Willie played by John James, and Liz Imbrie, played by Barabara Devey added a touch of comedy. Barbara Devey (Liz Imbrie) a reporter who tries to get a scoop on the Lord family was suffering from laryngitis so she had to mime her songs, which passed off with very few mishaps. As with any amateur performance the chorus always add colour and make the stage look busy. In this particular performance the chorus where utilised as kitchen and house staff. A tremendous amount of effort goes into these performances and its is always a relief when it all pulls off. BAOS Musical Theatre Company and friends have also worked tirelessly to ensure that the raked seating and stage for their production to High Society was installed in time for the performances to take place. So congratulations to everyone at BAOS for entertaining the folk of Bridgnorth once again on an enjoyable evening out at Bridgnorth Leisure Centre. | | Cast | |
